'Canvas' NVIDIA's GauGan tool

I share a very cool AI tool that actually is really helpful for us 3D artist. I haven’t played with it that much but so far is pretty impressive… and I’m talking about NVIDIA GauGan tool called Canvas.

'Canvas' NVIDIA's GauGan tool

A NVIDIA update that allows you to choose a panoramic template, and you can actually paint blobs of colour to create your own panoramic image and then export it as an HDRI! crazy cool stuff!

You can download the Canvas software here (check the computer specs). Once you open it you’ll be able to choose the panorama (currently in BETA):

then you can choose one of the types of ‘materials’ and just paint blobs of colour. The AI tool is going to generate whatever you choose in a panorama image and you can click and drag the ‘3D View’ on the top right to see how it is looking!

I started with some mountains like so:

The completed the ‘background’ with some larger peaks before moving to other ‘materials’:

Once you add a bunch of blobs of colour, literraly no more than 2 minutes on this one, you can also choose the ‘style’ from the palette below the ‘materials’ and this will essentially give you different types of landscapes and times of day base on the same arrangemet of elements/materials:

once you like the image you created, you can exported as an HDRI from the icon below on the top bar:

That’s it, you can now load it into your preferred render application and use it as your environment:

I generated a bunch of different styles from the same doodle, all with very different vibes:
